1. If you're playing too fast and furious with automation tools, LinkedIn will notice.
But I still laugh when people worry about LinkedIn banning them...
Automation tools have always been "against the rules."
So here are my thoughts:
Worst case scenario if you got banned, get a new account.
If you're truly scared of that happening, hire a VA to do it manually.
But if you're regularly updating your software + using "slow timeout" settings so you're not looking at too many profiles or sending too many messages at one time, you're golden.
Nuff said... Moving on.
2. Establish multiple touch points
It's well documented that people only spend a fraction of the time on LinkedIn as they do on Facebook.
That means you need to get right to the point and quickly move the conversation off LinkedIn.
Ideally that's a phone call, but people can be super skeptical if they don't know, like or trust you.
So what I do is extend an invite to my Facebook group so we can "learn from, support and refer each other."
A few things happen here...
- It put's me in a position of authority as the group's host (assuming you've got good content)
- It takes the conversation off LinkedIn to Facebook where they spend more time
- They're more receptive to speaking with me once they are in the group because that's now 3 different touch points (LinkedIn, FB, FB group)
Speaking of groups...
3. Value, value, value.
Let's be honest... Most people suck at outreach.
They make it all about themselves and ruin it for the rest of us.
But the easiest way to stand out in a sea of pushy messages, is to offer value first.
Again for me, I invite them into this community.
Here I provide value and nurture relationships through my content.
But what if you don't have or want a group?
There's lot of examples of how you could provide someone with value.
- Offer a personalized video audit
- Offer to interview them
- Offer a short phone call to support/refer each other
The point is...
You gotta bring the value.
You'll stand out and your response rates will massively improve.
